What should I expect from the herbal consultation?

Prior to the appointment, I will send you my intake forms, which include a variety of questions about your health history and lifestyle. You will send this back to me at least 24 hours before our appointment so that I have time to review it thoroughly before our meeting.

During the initial appointment, we will meet for 60-90 minutes, and I will ask you to tell me your health story. I will ask you a lot of questions! The focus of my assessment is on identifying patterns of strength and weakness. Using this information,  I will educate you on nutritional, herbal, and lifestyle options to support your wellness. I may offer you an herbal formula such as a tea or tincture, which will be designed to support the unique needs of your body.

I treat each client as an individual. Unlike Western medicine, there are no algorithms used to diagnose or treat your disease. My approach is to combine the latest scientific findings and clinical practices with traditional herbalism and healing wisdom.

My healing philosophy is to offer you support to restore your ability to experience balance and harmony in your health.

What are your credentials?

Currently, herbalism is not considered a recognized health care modality in Kentucky, or anywhere in the country for that matter. As such, there is no state or national licensing for herbal practitioners. At this time, there is only national registration through the American Herbalists Guild, and I am in the process of pursuing the “Registered Herbalist” designation.  I am a graduate of Maryland University of Integrative Health, where I received a Master’s of Science degree in Therapeutic Herbalism. I have 40 graduate credit hours in herbalism and continue my education by attending workshops through the American Herbalist’s Guide and various herbal conferences. I have also completed intensive workshops and mentorships with 7Song, Myron Hardesty of Weeds of Eden, Erika Galentin of Sovereignty Herbs, and Camille Freeman.

How will you integrate with my care team?

I do not claim to cure disease, nor do I offer advice about the use of any type of pharmaceuticals or medications at any time. I have no objections to my clients being seen or evaluated by their own medical doctor. If you have any questions or concerns about your health, I highly recommend you discuss them with your physician. I am available to work as part of your health care team and am happy to consult with you and your physician.
